America’s Cup
Team New Zealand’s Black Magic (ZL32), designed by Aucklander Laurie Davidson became the first yacht from another country outside the United States to win the America’s cup at San Diego in 1995, then defend it in Auckland in 2000.
Black Magic was sailed by Team New Zealand representing the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
Team New Zealand became a household name in New Zealand following the success in America's Cup competitions and has contributed to New Zealand's reputation for producing world-class sailors and boat designers.

Take the whole family for an America’s cup sailing experience on board Team New Zealand yachts NZL 40 and NZL 41 - call at the Sail NZ booth in Viaduct Harbour. Sail NZ offers two or three hour harbour voyages.
